Greg joined our team in 1993 and as one of our most senior Certified Foremen has successfully supervised many of Remdal’s strata and commercial projects over the past 22 years.
Greg loves music and is a big blues rock fan. He continues to enjoy playing guitar and singing in various local bands. He also loves to fish and often enjoys spending the day exploring our local rivers.
Greg finds his biggest delight in spending time with his two young children.
Greg has a Red Seal CQ (Certificate of Qualification) in Painting and Decorating. He has overseen many restoration projects involving concrete repair, caulking, and waterproofing membranes.
He has expertise in swing stage rigging and is knowledgeable in scaffold erection. In all of his work, Greg is very conscious of safety considerations.
Remdal has historically given an award which goes to the Foreman with the highest project performance and customer service ratings. Greg won this award so many years in a row that we actually began calling it “The Greg” award.
Greg is a student of his work, and he often spends hours of his evenings reading up on new products or application methods. We joke that part of Greg’s project preparation involves a sleepless night worrying about how he is going to do everything “just right”. He is a true student of his craft.
When you initially meet Greg you will likely be struck by his no-nonsense demeanor, followed quickly by his half-smile. Customers appreciate his dry sense of humour. But what customers love most about Greg is the competence he brings to oversee the project. With Greg on site, they know the job will be done right.
Zsolte began working at Remdal in 1997. Over the past 18 years, he has supervised the painting of several hundred strata and commercial projects.
He enjoys fishing and always looks forward to taking his crew on an October fishing weekend. He’s also a big soccer fan and loves watching his sons play. Beyond fishing and family, one of his biggest pleasures is eating good Hungarian sausage – which he makes himself!
Speaking of Hungary, Zsolte trained as a painter in his native country. He has painted in Canada for more than twenty years.
Zsolte loves painting, possibly more than anyone else in our company. He has the amazing ability to combine a genuine commitment to pleasing customers with a zealous intensity that often allows him to finish projects ahead of schedule. Through all this, he takes pains to minimize the disruption of the painting project to those he is working around. No matter how busy the season, he takes the time to show that he’s aware of what the job needs and that he will make sure it gets done.
It is no exaggeration to say that Zsolte is a true gentleman. We regularly get phone calls from customers who want to tell us of some little extra thing he – or his crew – has done for them. Often, that’s the first we’ve heard of it!
Zsolte has been awarded our Premium Certified Foreman award twice and is one of our proud Remdal owners.
Hla Pe joined Remdal in 1998, and he’s been a valued part of our team ever since. One of our senior Certified Foremen, he has supervised his crew and successfully painted hundreds of strata and commercial units.
Some of his recent strata projects include The Carrington (15500 Rosemary Heights), Wedgewood (15715 34th Avenue), and Chestnut Lane (10238 155A Street). Hla Pe is also experienced at hi-rise and special access work, as well as concrete repair and restoration work.
When Hla Pe leads his crew on a project, he is not there just to get the job done. Instead, he takes great care to make sure that the painting process itself is a blessing—both for the customer and for his crew. It’s not uncommon to see him directing his painters like a conductor, making sure that each worker performs his part and that the job gets done efficiently and properly.
He is a hands-on leader, careful to observe and plan out a project before picking up the tools and leading his crew by example.
Hla Pe’s leadership is evident on the job site, but it also extends much deeper. He is heavily involved in the Burmese immigrant community, helping new immigrants to feel at home and personally caring for underprivileged newcomers that don’t have any family or friends nearby.
Over the past fourteen years, Hla Pe has gained and maintained the trust of our customers with his good sense of humour and quiet leadership. He approaches each of his projects thoughtfully, and customers love the result!
Hla Pe is an owner in Remdal and shares our company commitment to customer service and giving value. He has consistently been one of our Premier Applicators since first winning “Applicator of the Year” in 2006.
John joined our team some 14 years ago and he’s been a valued part of our Remdal team ever since. As a senior Certified Foreman has supervised his crew and successfully painted hundreds of Strata and commercial units.
He keeps in peak physical condition with cross-fit, and he loves hiking and climbing in his North shore environment. John also has a deep commitment to being environmentally responsible, and is enthusiastic about his natural diet. We joke that he eats moss – but you can ask him if this is a joke or not!
Most of all, John loves his family. His two young children are the highlight of his life.
He has a CQ (Certificate of Qualification) in painting, and has extensive experience in applying all types of paint coatings. John has overseen complex projects involving concrete repair, caulking, and waterproofing membranes. Most recently he completed a large multi-tower project involving extensive caulking and installing water-proof membranes.
John gains and maintains the trust of our customers with his approachable, easy-going, and under-stated sort of manner. He approaches each of his projects in a thoughtful, methodical way. And customers love the result!
John is also an owner in Remdal since 2009. He shares our company commitment to customer service and giving value.
Gyula was born in Hungary in 1974. His father was the head of the local painting/decorating school, and he basically influenced Gyula’s desire to become a painter.
After painting/decorating school, Gyula worked at various construction sites in his native town in Hungary where he also learned other skills like working with concrete, laying foundation, carpentry skills, etc.
At the same time, Gyula studied to become a heavy duty diesel mechanic as he had always been interested in heavy machinery and trucks. However, he never got an opportunity to work as a mechanic.
In 2008 moved to Canada and worked for a garage door company installing garage doors and painting them. He then found Remdal thru ‘STEP’ program, and decided to apply to join the team. At Remdal, he has an opportunity to paint as well as use his carpentry skills. He has also been learning how to do drywall repair and re-texturing.
Gyula is a certified swing stage and a boom lift operator; also holds a certificate for working in confined spaces. In fact one of his jobs at Remdal was in the waste water treatment plant. It was a tough one. Gyula says: ‘never again!’
Gyula is happily married to Natalie; they have 2 boys. Gyula likes to take his sons camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and even ice fishing. He likes to keep active and on the move after the work day is over.
He loves his job at Remdal because of the opportunity it gives him to learn new things, acquire new skills, and meet new people.
Bryn may look like he recently graduated from high school, but don’t let his youthful good looks fool you. He is beginning his 10th year painting with Remdal (yes, he did begin when he was in high school!). Over the past five years he has grown to be a very competent and effective Certified Foreman on our Strata repainting projects.
Bryn is happily married to Laura. He loves music, and even has his own “in-home” studio where he helps others make and mix music. He also loves to stay fit, and his favourite sport is snowboarding.
Customers appreciate Bryn’s strong commitment to keeping everyone in the communication loop, and his approachable, eager to please manner. His crew enjoys his leadership, and his happy and motivated crew delights in producing a well-executed project.
Bryn is upbeat, smiling and has a “let’s go and get her done!” kind of attitude. But he also brings careful planning to his projects.
Bryn also brings a willingness to learn, and recently did his first Bosun’s chair project.
Jose is new to Remdal, and is just beginning his second year with us. He spent most of his schooling years in the Vancouver area, and returned to his native Guatemala to pioneer his own business in swimming-pool construction.
Nine years ago, Jose and his family returned to settle in the lower mainland. Just this past year the family celebrated his wife becoming a Canadian citizen.
He loves soccer, and likes to run at least 10 Km per day. He is devoted to his family and enjoys swimming and hiking with his three children.
Jose has extensive experience in all aspects of waterproofing. He is knowledgeable in concrete restoration, and in the application of sealants and liquid-applied membranes. He is also experienced in swing-stage rigging and high-access work.
He is a quick learner and a good communicator. He loves to solve problems. He always brings practicality and flexibility to his project management. “Every situation is different… people are different. And so every job involves looking at the people and the situation and finding the best practical solution.”
Jose finds great satisfaction in delivering a quality project. “If the client is happy, than I’m happy, because I know I’ve done my job well and this means a better future for all of us.”
Kaveh started off working summers at Remdal while he was in high school. He’s now approaching his twelve year anniversary with Remdal, and he’s been a Certified Foreman supervising our strata, hi-rise, and commercial repainting projects for the past five years.
He enjoys soccer and rugby, and earned a university scholarship in wrestling. His wrestling talents also landed him a spot on Canada’s Jr. National team. Today he still does some coaching in the sport.
Kaveh is part of a close-knit family. Both his brother and his father also work for Remdal. This past year we congratulated Kaveh on marrying a beautiful bride. Strangely, she thus far refuses to join us in painting, but insists on working in the medical field!
Kaveh is organized, knowledgable, and he instills confidence. He is quick to grasp what needs to be done to deliver a quality project. It’s easy to see that his personal commitment to hard work is imparted to his crew. And his upbeat personality is reflected in his crew’s positive approach to the job.
Recently, one “hard to impress” Painting Inspector told us that he regarded Kaveh as one of the best foremen he has worked with. It is no wonder that Kaveh’s crew receives so many letters of reference from pleased customers.
In addition to painting, Kaveh’s skills include wood repair, stucco repair, and concrete restoration.
Kaveh has been awarded our “Premium Applicator” award for the past three years in a row, and he is a proud owner of Remdal.
